Summer Mansion Wedding for Alli & Jon
07.03.21 | Allerton Park- Monticello, IL
Yes, I am starting from the end of the night because a private firework can’t be saved for last! Around 9:30 p.m we asked all the guests to gather around the mansion’s Koi Pond with drink in hand for a special send off to the couple. Little did they all know we were surprising the couple with a pre Fourth of July firework show! The burst of color started lighting up the sky, making a perfect setting for photos of the couples and moments for the guests to share with one another before saying their goodbyes. It was an absolute magical way to end such a one-of-a-kind dream wedding!
I first meet Alli and Jon in July 2020 with just exactly one year to plan their dream wedding and as they finished college out of state. Our initial consultation was in my office in Champaign with the Mother of the Bride, Marta, bride & groom. The couple wanted to plan a full scale wedding at the historic Allerton Park & Mansion. With the couple having a busy study schedule, it was such a pleasure to get to work closely with Marta in piecing together what would be the “Wedding of the Year!”
Alli and Jon had a wedding vision full of romance. So as we started to create a romantic wedding design, we used soft colors with just pops of bolder hues of pink. The main showcase of this wedding venue was the Allerton Mansion, an old-world European style architecture. Therefore, it was important to bring in the style of the Allerton mansion as to find a perfect blend of old world & new world charm. We landed on the design words of: classic, feminine, formal and traditional with a color palette of whites, ivory, blush, magenta and baby blue. As I would spend the evenings going through color swatches, researching Parisian architecture and looking through hundreds of inspirational photos the motto “youthful romance” came to mind. From that I strived not only to find a design balance between the two worlds, but to also keep the overall design vibrant and wondrous, as they have almost their whole lives ahead of them. Let me take this time highlight the design inspiration and styling for the ceremony and reception as when it comes to planning a one-of-kind wedding it is all in the details.

Jon loved baseball, so Alli surprised him with a cake inspired by his passion for the game. I love this idea, as it brings in the groom so he can have a special moment too!
