To create this chic wedding day look you can expand beyond only thinking of colors for your wedding. I frequently as a designer, I like to consider the meaning behind the holiday season to the couple.
Here are my planning tips inspired by Rachel and Patrick’s Springfield, Illinois wedding.
When I close my eyes and think of winter, here is what comes to my mind… fur, winter berries, chocolate, evergreen, plaid, garland, soft lighting, holiday songs, spiked eggnog, candles..Now you try! What do you think of?
Write down all of those ideas. Next, can you think of the feeling you get? I feel warmth, softness, happiness, festive, happy and traditions…Now you try! What do you think of?
Think of the color palette you lean towards. Colors 1: burgundy, ivory, soft pink, gold, evergreen. Colors 2: navy, soft blue, white, silver.
Colors 3: red, green, black, ivory, gold.
Finally, think of the textures you see during winter. When we think of a wedding look, we often go to colors first and often overlook textures. What do I mean by texture? Well, to me this is just as much important if not more then your color choices! For a winter wedding I think of: velvet, lace, faux fur, sherpa, satin, burlap, quilts. You can then take those textures and find ways to include in your design. You can do a velvet napkin, long sleeve lace dress, faux fur for the bridesmaids, burlap runners, satin groom’s tie/bowties, quilt-inspired place card and more.
Enjoy your celebratory & festive wedding day in the holiday season with the sparkle of snow and magical sleigh ride exit!
